After more than half a century, the Wood’s is still passing on the Dawson’s Shoes Repairing Shop and its spirit.
Bob Wood, its current owner, took over the shop in 1990 from his father Esthel Wood. The Wood’s came to Columbia in 1956, when Esthel started to work for the shop’s former owner L.D. Johnson. After five years, Esthel bought the shop.
Being one of the two shoes repairing shops, Dawson’s Shoes Repairing Shop is known for its family-like atmosphere great customer services. “I am proud of the business, as it is not something relies on the computer. It is pure handworks,” said Matt Wood, Bob’s son, who might be the successor of the shop.
